Gluten Free Beef Stew in Dutch Oven is super easy to make! Today I am sharing my way to make it on the stovetop with you! This is such an easy dutch oven stew recipe!
Classic beef stew is super hearty and comforting, a warm tender and juicy beef along with a wine-reduced sauce are super delicious and perfect for the fall, and winter time! My Chinese herbalist recommends I consume beef at least once a week because he said, beef is a good source of protein, iron and zinc. (disclaimer: I am not a vegetarian)
I love cooking stew in a dutch oven, I found a dutch oven retains the moisture in the pot more than a regular pot, and for some reason, the flavours are deeper too. I then read some articles online, one of the articles says” The heavier weight of the pot lets you simmer the stew and cook it slowly, which results in a deeply flavored stew.” (source)
I guess there are reasons why professional chefs also use dutch ovens a lot!
I have shared some different stew recipes before Chicken Wings Stew, Japanese Cury beef stew, Hong Kong style Lamb Stew, etc.

How long does the Gluten Free Beef Stew in Dutch Oven cook on the stovetop?
I love very tender meat, like fork-tender texture, so I always simmer the beef for 3 hours. However, if you like the beef to have more texture, 2- 2.5 hours also works!
How big of a dutch oven do you need to make this stew?
Mine is 4.5 Quarts. I suggest you get 4.5 quarts if you have 2 people at home, and 5 quarts or bigger if you have more people in your household.

The gluten free beef stew in dutch oven will last for 3-4 days, given that they are stored in an air-tight container.
You may also freeze the dish! Gluten Free Beef Stew in Dutch Oven freezes well! To reheat it, just make sure you put the dish back in the refrigerator overnight and reheat it on the stovetop.
What to serve with an old-fashioned beef stew?
If you would like to stick with gluten-free, I would serve it with gluten-free bread. The sauce is so good to dip the bread in and enjoy!
If you don’t have any special diet, I would serve it with rice or bread.
What wine should we use to cook gluten free beef stew in dutch oven?
A different wine will contribute a different taste to the dish. I have tried red wine – which is one of my favourite wines to cook with beef, white wine, Chinese cooking wine, Japanese sake, or any type of alcohol will do the trick, but the flavour will be slightly different!
Have fun playing around with different liquors and soon you will find one that you like the most.
